Government and the local Military Authorities regarding the inclusion in the Progress Report of Barrack Works for the half year ended the 30th September last an item amounting to £97. 11. 7 for purchase of fittings and baths from the late proprietors of the Mount Austin Hotel, which has recently been acquired by the War Office.
As the Colonial Treasurer has pointed out, the amended schedule of Barrack Services forwarded with your despatch under reference does not in any way provide for Barracks at the Peak, and makes no mention of any supersession or avoidance of items as is contended by the Commanding Royal Engineer in a minute dated the 25th October last, of which I enclose a copy.
